Since 2012, OvinAlp has dedicated 3% of its annual turnover to research and innovation. Each year, the company invests more than €400,000. This commitment was further strengthened in 2016 with the creation of the Research & Innovation division at the Ribiers site. This center of excellence brings together eight experts, including three PhDs in microbial ecology and chemical sciences.

OvinAlp’s Research & Innovation team works every day to continuously improve our products and services by developing ever more effective solutions, while also initiating and overseeing a rigorous quality assurance approach.

A partner of numerous research organizations such as INRAE, COMIFER, the CIVC in Champagne, ARVALIS, CIRAD, and the National Museum of Natural History (Department of Ecology and Biodiversity Management), OvinAlp is recognized for its capacity to innovate and for the quality of the organic products it brings to market.

OvinAlp also collaborates with several Chambers of Agriculture on a range of issues in order to provide farmers with practical and sustainable solutions. By listening closely to end users, a value that lies at the core of the company’s DNA, OvinAlp is able to offer innovative and effective products.

In 2018, the National Museum of Natural History and Professor Marc-André Selosse conducted the first studies. This work identified 374 fungal species and 234 bacterial species within the Ov active ingredient. From this exceptional biodiversity, OvinAlp selected the most resilient microorganisms with significant agronomic value.

Multiplied through a proprietary solid-state biofermentation process, these microorganisms help to:

  • Improve soil health and fertility
  • Optimize mineral nutrient uptake
  • Strengthen the natural resistance of plants

Eleven microorganisms have been registered with the Institut Pasteur as carrying agronomic value.

Biostimulants: Technologies Adapted to Crop Needs

OvinAlp has developed four specific technologies to accurately meet the diverse needs of crops and the expectations of sustainable, high-performance agriculture:

These biostimulation solutions are designed to improve plant physiological efficiency, optimize nutrition, strengthen resilience to stress, and naturally increase yields.

OvinAlp has also developed a Bioprotection range. Bioprotection according to OvinAlp is based on a simple principle: strengthening the plant immune system. We use natural preparations to stimulate both active and passive plant defenses. This approach provides a high-performance, natural solution that complements synthetic products.

It can be easily integrated into crop protection programs. The “Care By Plants” technology is part of an agricultural phytotherapy approach. It harnesses the properties of plants to protect crops while preserving the biological balance of soils and the environment. Through these developments, OvinAlp reaffirms its commitment to innovation in support of precision agriculture, an approach that remains respectful, sustainable, and future-oriented.

To ensure the effectiveness of its formulations, OvinAlp has established a field trial platform in Ribiers. Additional trials are also conducted directly with partner farmers under real growing conditions (vineyards, orchards, market gardening, and broadacre crops) throughout France. Our partners also test our products on their own trial platforms.

The objectives of these platforms are multiple:

Conduct proof-of-concept studies

on new formulations through controlled-environment chamber trials.

Obtain field results

from proprietary trial plots or partner farms.

Confirm results

through collaborations with organizations certified under Good Experimental Practices (GEP), required for obtaining Marketing Authorization (MA).

Results are analyzed using advanced diagnostic tools focused on soil, plants, and harvests.

Behind our Research & Innovation efforts are trusted scientific partners.

Among them, Magma plays a key role. Based in Ribiers and specialized in soil chemistry, agronomy, and microbiology, this research laboratory has supported OvinAlp since 2015 in the formulation, testing, and scientific validation of our natural fertilization solutions.

Its expertise contributes at every stage: soil diagnostics, agronomic modeling, field trial monitoring, results analysis, and the development of new approaches to sustainable nutrient management.

This collaboration strengthens the robustness of our R&I activities and helps bridge the gap between fundamental research, product innovation, and real-world agricultural practices.
