OvinAlp Haute Fertilisation revolutionises soil health and plant nutrition thanks to the Ov active principle. This active ingredient comes from a unique process of slow solid biofermentation lasting 12 months. This process combines sheep manure and almost exclusively local plant materials. It notably includes grape pomace and olive pulp. A true concentrate of microbial biodiversity, the Ov active principle brings together more than 600 beneficial micro-organisms. These bacteria and fungi have been characterised by the French National Museum of Natural History.

A biodiversity concentrate for soil health

Benefits of the Ov active principle :

  • Stimulates soil life through the introduction of a wide diversity of beneficial micro-organisms
  • Supplies humus to soils thanks to its high humic restitution rate
  • Improves soil structure, making soils more aerated and better able to retain water (humus can retain up to 20 times its weight in water)
  • Increases resistance and resilience of soils that have undergone disturbances (weather events, droughts, diseases, pollution)
  • The supply of fertilising units is essential to ensure crop productivity. However, the introduction of a large number of living micro-organisms is crucial to improve soil functioning and limit nutrient leaching.

Applying the Ov active principle to the soil means optimising the assimilation of primary (N, P, K) and secondary (Mg, Ca, Fe…) mineral elements, as micro-organisms work to make them more available to plants.

A living soil is a soil whose vital functions are ensured by a large number of organisms. In the event of disturbance, even with a population decrease, the soil will continue to function.

After a disturbance, the remaining micro-organisms will survive better and repopulate the soil more rapidly.

    • 60 % Organic matter
    • > 600 : Microbial species (including 234 bacteria and 374 fungi)
    • 9 % Humic acids
    • 11% Fulvic acids

The process complies with European regulations R(EC) 1069/2009 and (EU) 142/2011, guaranteeing optimal sanitary safety, with no weed seeds or pathogens.

With 300 kg of carbon equivalent sequestered per tonne applied, the Ov active principle actively contributes to the “4 per 1000” initiative, which promotes increasing carbon stocks in agricultural soils.

It is also one of the richest soil amendments in stable organic matter, ahead of horse manure composts, green waste composts, household waste composts and slurries.

According to a study conducted between 2021 and 2024 by the OvinAlp R&I Department (GHG balance):

    • 600 kg CO₂e stored/ha for 1 tonne of product
    • 196 kg CO₂e emitted (production, transport, application) → Net gain: +404 kg CO₂e/ha

The Ov Active Principle therefore acts as a measurable and effective climate resilience tool.

By restoring the three essential forms of soil organic matter, the Ov active principle significantly improves soil structure and porosity. The result is better water infiltration, increased retention capacity and a marked reduction in water stress. Users observe longer moisture retention after rainfall and reduced irrigation needs.
